Summer 2019

Brought to you by the Royal Saskatchewan Museum, the Big Bert exhibit highlights the wide range of marine animals from a time period when Saskatchewan was almost completely underwater. The main feature is a 5.8 metres (19 foot) long crocodile named "Big Bert." Bert was discovered in 1991 along the banks of the Carrot River in east-central Saskatchewan. This skeleton is the best preserved and most complete example of this species (Terminonaris robusta) ever found. With the help of 3D imaging and touch screens, visitors can see what Big Bert looked like alive, and learn more about the various other prehistoric creatures he would have known from this area.
